As of now, CKS is using v1.20. When will CNCF upgrade the exam environment to v1.21? Is there any timeline on when they will be doing it or is it random? I keep on checking the github repo for any version update changes.

They upgrade the environments between 4-8 week after every release. You can know the current version of the environments reading the user manual at https://docs.linuxfoundation.org/tc-docs/certification/important-instructions-cks

This part is what you are looking for: "The CKS environment is currently running Kubernetes v1.20. The CKS exam environment will be aligned with the most recent K8s minor version within approximately 4 to 8 weeks of the K8s release date."
