"whatis" command not working

I am currently learning linux basic course and in Module II - Working with shell - 1 - Command-line Help there is a command “whatis”.

When I am trying this command in my linux VM
~$ whatis ls
the output is coming as
ls: nothing appropriate.

Same is the case for all other commands.

Any packages I am missing?

If you don’t mind, can you please share your OS details?

Install the man-db package for this. Let me know if it works for you.
