and since we are not supposed to open any external links, what will be the best practice to copy/paste generic aliases during exam.

All text that the exam writers thought might be relevant for you to copy/paste is hyperlinked in such a way to allow you to copy it by clicking.
copy and paste if I remember correctly were mapped to shift+ctrl+c and shift+ctrl+v respectively

You have to memorize. Try to set aliases before attempting the questions in labs.
